BJ Richardson
Originally from Unionville, a small town in North Missouri, BJ moved to Springfield in 2004 and loves being a Springfield resident. BJ received his Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University and Master of Laws in Taxation from The of University of Missouri – Kansas City.
“After having lived in Saint Louis for three years and Kansas City for one year, I love the slower pace of Springfield and the friendly people. I love surprising friends who come to visit from the city by showing them all the great things to do in the Ozarks.”~ BJ Richardson
BJ recently helped Cole and Heidi Hamels establish The Hamels Foundation, which provides relief to children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic in Africa. He has since been asked to serve on the foundation’s board of directors and is now secretary and treasurer of the foundation. BJ notes that the foundation’s efforts are
“Global in scope, but the results are felt by the local children so much in need of care.”
Richardson has had an impact on the Springfield community since his arrival seven years ago. In this short period of time, he has become managing attorney of The Courtney Law Firm, been named one of the Springfield Business Journal’s “40 Under 40″, become president of Springfield Business Connection (a chapter of Business Networking International), helped establish The Hamels Foundation, taught continuing education classes to local attorneys, taught undergraduate classes, and helped to organize several charitable events.
BJ’s goal is to
“Bring in a broad cross-section of the Springfield community to contribute and participate in charitable events.”
When not working or staying involved in the community, BJ spends time with Rowdy, his black lab.
